Things to Do in Punta Cana 2027 Beyond the Resort

A week in Punta Cana can very easily become seven identical days by a pool. It does not have to. Between the weekly party calendar, one boat trip, one proper beach day and a couple of easy excursions, you can fill the time without ever repeating an afternoon.

The natural pools

A sandbank offshore where the sea sits at waist height and stays that way for a surprising distance. Standing in the middle of the Caribbean, well away from land, with the water at chest level, is genuinely one of the strangest and best things you can do here. The boat party stops there, which is the easiest way to see it — you get the swim and the day out in one booking.

Juanillo Beach

The best-looking beach on this coast, inside the Cap Cana gates at the southern end. Calmer and more manicured than Bávaro, with beach clubs, restaurants and the kind of postcard framing that makes everyone's camera roll. It is a taxi ride and there is a cost to being there, but as one afternoon out of a week it is worth doing.

Build the week around the fixtures

The weekly calendar gives you a spine to hang everything else on: pool party at Pearl on Monday, boat party on Wednesday, and The White Party at Cielo whenever the next date falls. Slot the beach days, Juanillo and a night in the Los Corales clubs around those three, and the week plans itself. Use the calendar to check what is running against your exact travel dates before you book anything else.

What a day outside the resort actually looks like

The all-inclusive bracelet makes it very easy never to leave, which is exactly why a day outside needs a shape. Ours tends to start early, because this coast faces east and the sun comes up straight out of the sea: the light before nine is the best of the day, and how the sea is behaving is something you find out when you get down there. Late morning is for moving, a walk along Bávaro, a swim that is not your own pool, a breakfast you actually pay for. The middle of the day belongs to the shade; the heat weighs more than the breeze lets you feel. Things restart around four, and Los Corales does not really come alive until well after dinner, so there is no hurry. If you are wondering what to do in Punta Cana beyond the resort, that rhythm answers most of it: early, then slow, then late. The one alarm worth setting all week is the sunrise. Not the seven o'clock race for a sunbed, and not an excursion that collects you in the dark and spends a good part of the day in a minibus.

Cap Cana, the marina and everything that happens in the water

Cap Cana is the polished end of the map and it works better as half a day than a whole one: the marina with the boats in front of you, lunch without rushing, then Juanillo. Most of the rest of what is worth doing here happens in the water rather than on land. Snorkelling rewards a calm sea, which usually means early; Cabeza de Toro sits on quieter water than Bávaro and suits anyone who is not a confident swimmer. Catamarans go out from several points along this coast, and the Bávaro beachfront has the usual spread of water sports, with a paddle or with an engine, depending on the mood. Our own boat party sails from Salvaje Beach Club, which is the boarding point and not the venue: the party itself happens on board. It is strictly over-18s, documents are checked as you board, and it casts off on time, so arriving twenty minutes early is not a formality.

Rain, recovery and how to split the week

Tropical rain here is usually short and heavy rather than a lost day: it arrives, it empties, it moves on, and half an hour later the sand is steaming. Do not cancel anything over the first cloud. If it does settle in, that is the afternoon for a long lunch under a roof, for the shops and the market stalls, for the sleep the last late night owes you. Over a week, the split that has worked best for us is roughly a couple of proper beach days, one day of going somewhere new, one day with nothing in it at all, and the rest arranged around whichever days there is a party on. A party day eats into the morning after it, so count that in and never plan anything that starts early for the day after the Los Corales clubs. For the 2027 season, dates, times and ticket prices are announced when tickets go on sale, and the VIP list hears it before anyone else.
